GAFE Professional Development


Objectives
Participants will be able to navigate the GAFE
(signing in, finding files, sharing).
Participants will become familiar with the three of
the major (documents, forms, sites) applications
in the GAFE.
Participants will be able to create files in each of
the three major GAFE applications.
Participants will be able to brainstorm ideas for
application of the GAFE programs in the
classroom ceiling

Sessions



September through February, one face-to-face
meeting and one asynchronies meeting per
month.
1 Module
Objectives
Participants will be able to sign into the GAFE.
Participants will become familiar accessing a GAFE document.
Participants will be able to create a document in the GAFE.
Participants will be able to identify one opportunity where GAFE
documents could be utilized in the classroom.

Activities
Face-to-Face session:
Whole Group: Welcome participants to the PD sessions. Intro
GAFE, ensure participants are able to sign in, intro Google Docs,
walk participants through creating a Google Doc, ensure that
participants can share a document with other PD participants.

Asynchronies meeting:
Independent: Participants will watch screen casts with directions
for creating documents. Participants will create a Google
document independently. Participants will be asked prepare one
idea suitable for the classroom using Google docs.
2 Module
Objectives
Participants will be able to sign into the GAFE.
Participants will become familiar accessing a GAFE forms.
Participants will be able to create a form in the GAFE with a variety of
question styles.
Participants will be able to identify one opportunity where GAFE forms
could be utilized in the classroom
Activities
Face-to-Face session:
Whole Group: Welcome participants to the PD sessions.
Participants will share successes/struggles with the group in
regards to their use of Google Docs. Ensure participants are still
able to sign in, intro Google Forms, walk participants through
creating a Google Form. Ensure that participants can share a
form with other PD participants.
Asynchronies meeting:
Independent: Participants will watch screen casts with directions
for creating a Google form. Participants will create a Google
form independently and share it with the instructor and 4 other
individuals. Participants will be asked prepare one idea suitable
for the classroom using Google forms to share during the next
face-to-face session.
3 Module
Objectives
Participants will be able to sign into the GAFE.
Participants will become familiar accessing a GAFE sites.
Participants will be able to create a website using the GAFE.
Activities
Face-to-Face session:
Whole Group: Welcome participants to the PD sessions. Participants
will share successes/struggles with the group in regards to their use of
Google Forms. We will also review data collected from each form.
Ensure participants are still able to sign in, intro Google sites, walk
participants through creating a Google site. Ensure that participants
can navigate and populate their Google site. We will have independent
work time during this session where participants will be able work on
designing and creating a grade level website.
Asynchronies meeting:
Independent: Participants will watch screen casts with directions for
creating a Google site. Participants will continue to work on their site
and enlist other team members to help brainstorm information that
would be captured on the site. Participants will be asked to share their
sites at the next face-to-face session. Within 2 weeks of 4 Module face-
to-face meeting, the sites are expected to be live and the link to the
teams website must be distributed to families.

4 Module
Objectives
Participants will be able to sign into the GAFE.
Participants will be able to share 3-4 ways they have
used the GAFE during instruction or to improve
parent/teacher communication.
Activities
Participants will have an opportunity to share their
successes and struggles when using the GAFE for
teacher or communication.
This is an opportunity for each participant to brag about
the ways they have incorporated the technology into
their classroom.
Success stories will be shared staff wide to encourage
others to see training, unitize the GAFE or modify their
practices to include more student-centered practices.
