UNICEF Uganda and Government of Uganda Sign New Country Programme Action Plan

KAMPALA, Tuesday, 15 December, 2009 - The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)
today signed a new five-year Country Programme of Action (CPAP) with the Government of
Uganda, at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.

The Honourable Syda Bbumba, Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development,
signed for the Government of Uganda, alongside Dr. Sharad Sapra, UNICEF Representative
in Uganda.

The new CPAP, designed to run from 2010-2014, will be implemented within a new United
Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), also signed by the Goverment of
Uganda and the United Nations in Uganda today. Under the UNDAF, UNICEF and other UN
agencies represented in Uganda will align all their development activities with the National
Development Plan (NDP).

Also present at today’s signing ceremony were Mr. Théophane Nikyema, United Nations
Resident Co-ordinator in Uganda, and heads of agencies and representatives from the
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations World Food
Programme (WFP), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
