PHRASAL VERBS

There are four types of phrasal verbs, depending whether they take an object or
not and whether they are separable or inseparable:

TYPE 1. They dont have an object.

She GOT UP early

TYPE 2. They have an object, which is ALWAYS after the phrasal verb:

She was LOOKING FOR her books when we arrived. She was LOOKING
FOR them.

TYPE 3. They have an object. If the object is a NOUN, we can put it in the middle or
after the phrasal verb.

OR
I LOOKED the word UP in the dictonary.

She BROUGHT UP her children to respect others.
OR
She BROUGHT her children UP to respect others.

If the object is a PRONOUN, we must put it in the middle of the phrasal verb:

I LOOKED it UP in the dictionary
She BROUGHT them UP to respect others

TYPE 4. They have three words and they also have an object, which is always after
the phrasal verb.
