Dear Parents,
There are some very important upcoming events happening this month, so
please be aware. Next week we begin our annual testing. Testing lasts 2 weeks and
the process is both time consuming and draining on the students so please make sure
you are doing everything you can to help your children be at their best during these
next two weeks. 1) Make sure you student is getting enough sleep each night, I will
be limiting the amount of homework sent home during the next two weeks to ensure
that the students can finish their work and still have plenty of time to get a good
nights rest. 2) Your student MUST get to school ON TIME everyday. It is extremely important that your child arrives to
school on time. Our testing process begins first thing in the morning, and if they arrive late they will not have an ample
amount of time to complete their tests, which will affect their results. 3) Make sure your child eats a healthy
breakfast each morning to ensure their bodies are content and comfortable to allow them to do their best on their
tests. A child who does not eat breakfast in the morning becomes uncomfortable, hungry, and distracted and does not
allow them to put in their best work. Although testing does not begin until next week, it would be extremely helpful to
start a daily routine now to help your student be better prepared.
This week, I am sending home SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS! I will be sending home 3 different orders that will
all be due Friday, October 17
th
. There is one order that says 4
th
grade, one that says 5
th
grade, and one that is a K-6
order form. You may order books for your children from any, all, or none or the orders. I believe that the most
important aspect of reading is interest. It is difficult to want to read something that is not interesting to you, so please
feel free to order books from any order form, but make sure that they are books your child will WANT to read. You may
submit your orders online (there is a link to the website on our class website), or you can submit your order form to me
along with the exact dollar amount (cash only) by Friday, October 17, 2014. If you have any questions about this
process please let me know and I will clarify anything for you.
This week in class we will continue our unit on the Human Body Digestive System by completing our foldables,
researching some I Wonder questions, and doing a math/science activity to discover the lengths of the different
organs involved in the system. We will be doing some preparation for our upcoming ITBS testing in language arts and
reading, and in Religion we will be looking closely at some of Jesus parables from the new testament in order to
discuss the message and how we can live out Jesus teachings. We will be looking at some social studies reading
passages in order to practice our reading skills and strategies, as well as to learn about history. As always, please e-mail
me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank You and God Bless!
Ms. Krisman
