GRADE 2

2-3.2 Recall weather terminology (including temperature, wind direction, wind speed, and
precipitation as rain, snow, sleet, and hail).
2-3.4 Carry out procedures to measure and record daily weather conditions (including
temperature, precipitation amounts, wind speed as measured on the Beaufort scale, and
wind direction as measured with a windsock or wind vane).
2-3.5 Use pictorial weather symbols to record observable sky conditions.
2-3.6 Identify safety precautions that one should take during severe weather conditions.

Reflection:
The only problems I ran into when creating this activity were trying to fit everything onto a
single page and still look nice and also finding age and maturity level relevant resource materials. I made
the font smaller to make it all fit on one page. I also used databases from the NGU website and other
resources to help me find appropriate resources for my students. I think that I will use this activity
because it helps them learn to use their resources and learn more in depth on their own using discovery.
I think it is beneficial to my students because they can learn on their own and have a break from the
teacher relaying information to them.

Extreme Weather Forecasting
In this unit we have studies different extreme weather conditions and how to stay safe
during extreme weather. We have also covered vocabulary that helps us understand the
weather patterns. Use the following resources to help you learn about weather and to help with
your task on weather.

You are a weather reporter. Choose which weather condition you would like to include in
your forecast for tomorrow. You may choose to have either floods, hurricanes, or tornadoes in
your forecast. Create a script forecasting the weather using vocabulary such as temperature,
wind direction, wind speed, and precipitation. You should include how we should all keep safe
from the weather conditions. You may choose compare the weather that is heading our way to
a famous Hurricane, Flood, or Tornado. We will use your script to create a forecasting video.
