Pilot Plant Pouch Filler Capital Purchase


Coordinate the capital purchase of a $100k+ pouch filling machine for the wet pilot plant
Research costs and capabilities of various types of pouch filling equipment
Work with vendor to design the machine to meet our appropriate needs
Propose final cost and design to upper management for purchase approval
Developed, coordinated, and executed the Factory Acceptance Test Plan for equipment validation
Pouch filling machine expected to arrive in Orrville by early August

Hungry Jack 24oz. Bottle Design & Start-Up Support
Assist in the development and launch of new 24oz. HJ syrup bottle
Perform dimensional analysis of bottle to evaluate PP hot fill performance
Performance Testing: Distribution testing, Compression Strength, Free fall drop testing, Environmental change affects
Assist operations with new 24oz. production start up
Design new closure to reduce water retention after pasteurizer by 80%
Perform density analysis for all syrups to determine appropriate fill height during production
Trouble shoot label application issues by testing on both ribbed and non-ribbed bottles
Hungry Jack Display Ready Packaging
Design store displays for syrup only, syrup and pancake mix tray, and combo pack items
Determine pallet patterns for most economical shipping solution
Visit co-packer facility to build and evaluate the performance of each display option

eCommerce Internet Ready Packaging
Developed a process to deliver custom product assortments to online retailers
Create packaging designs for 10 product assortments that qualify for Amazons Frustration Free Packaging internet sales
o Meet with suppliers to generate universal designs to standardize across a minimal number of cases
o Coordinate performance testing to meet ISTA 3A protocol
Design cases to adhere to Frustration Free Packaging (FFP):Consumer friendly | Recyclable & Sustainable | Ease of Shipping
Develop pallet patterns and perform cost analysis to select most economical solution

JIF-To-Go Dippers Start-Up
Support the development and launch of JIF-To-Go Dippers
Perform commissioning, qualification, and verification (CQV) testing at co-packers facility
Assist with the set-up and installation of new equipment at co-packers facility
Troubleshoot production issues: Fill weight variance | Shrink sleeve application | Graphics quality | Pretzel breakage
Perform distribution testing to evaluate pretzel breakage and graphic quality

Food Service Non-Intent BPA & Phthalate Closure Qualification
Work with Silgan to explore closure solutions for both BPA-Free and Phthalate-Free applications
Collaborate with sensory team to determine appropriate items and quantities needed to support a 2 year sensory evaluation
Coordinate trial run in Ripon to produce samples for performance evaluation of test closures versus control closure

Uncrustables Alternative Count Options
Explore various carton & case designs to determine a more cost effective and economical distribution method
Work with suppliers to develop carton designs, case, designs, and pallet patterns
Create a cost analysis to determine if we can make a cost effective change by comparing current designs with alternative solutions

Qualify new tamper evident label for Dickinsons glass jar items
Qualify new foil cup supplier for Dickinson portion control items
Coordinate test plan and data execution for portion control cup peel testing
Develop test protocol to document closure removal torque
