The role of the teacher in the public school system is to ensure that each student in his

classroom receives an excellent education. An excellent education ensures that each student will
be fully prepared for success in college or the workforce. Therefore, mastery of the STAAR by
each student is just one of the goals for the educator to achieve. Secondary goals that are critical
for the student to effectively participate in society that must be mastered as well include concepts
such as critical thinking, logical reasoning, and the ability to effectively communicate.
n order to ensure that each student reaches these goals, the teacher must reali!e that each
class will have a diverse mixture of ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and learning styles.
"y differentiating instruction, students of different abilities and needs can each master the
curriculum through engaging learning responsibilities. The educator can differentiate the process,
product, content, or the classroom environment to ensure each student is actively engaged in the
learning process which helps to balance the needs of the individual learner with the needs of the
classroom. Student#centered instructional strategies and curriculum design will help the teacher
achieve these goals.
n addition to engaging and differentiated classroom instruction, it is imperative for the
teacher to establish and nurture a relationship with each student. Students must know that the
classroom is a safe, innovative, and nurturing environment and the teacher must model the
behaviors that will be expected in society. A teacher must be a mentor as well as an educator.
Additionally, parent participation and community support is essential to achieving and sustaining
academic success. $%ou are spot on with parent support. &e don't always get it, but involving
parents can totally change the interaction between you, the student, and the guardian at home.(
n today's digital age, it is imperative for the teacher to use technology as a means of
keeping students interested and engaged. The best way to do this is by combining technology
with both content and pedagogy. The constructivist approach to education enables the teacher to
act as a facilitator of learning as opposed to the days of yore when the teacher stood in front of
the class and lectured for the entire period. This and future generations will demand lessons that
are interactive and hands#on. &hether you are using a smart board instead of a blackboard or
having your students blog about current events, technology will allow teachers to design lesson
plans that enrich learning. $great examples of actual use of technology in the classroom(
n summary, the teacher must be dedicated to providing a rigorous curriculum
with the academic and social skills necessary to ensure that all students reach their full potential.
$%ou have such a strong statement, just as a suggestion, maybe highlight some of your strong
stances in your closing to reiterate your beliefs.( Awesome job)
