Reading: The Little Red Hen
This week, we read The Big Mess and The
Little Red Hen. We also talked about the
difference between fiction and nonfiction books
and compared and contrasted these types of
books. Next week, our phonics story will be
Yes, I Want Some Too and the comprehension
story will be Cat Trap. We will also take our
short e spelling test.
Writing: Informational Writing
This week, we wrote an informational how-to
writing about how to blow a bubble as a class.
Then, the students brainstormed a list of what
they each knew how to do, created a graphic
organizer, and wrote an informational how-to
about this topic. We also continued to practice
pronouns, and singular and plural nouns.
Math: Numbers 1-120
This week, we completed our unit on numbers
and took our numbers assessment. Next week,
we will begin our unit on measurement with
non-standard measurement.
Science: The Water Cycle
We had a fun visit from 11Alive this week and
we concluded our water cycle by working in
groups to review and discuss what we have
learned. Next week, we will learn about
Benjamin Franklin in Social Studies.
