What is the United Nations?

The UN or United Nations as they are more commonly known for as they are commonly
known for is an intergovernmental organization established on October 24th 1945 to
promote international co-operation. A replacement for the inefficient League of Nations, the
organization was created after the Second World War to prevent another war.

What is UNESCO and what does UNESCO do?
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization was established in 1946 to
"contribute to peace and security by promoting collaboration among nations through education,
science and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the
human rights


How many member countries are part of the UN?
There are 193 total countries part of the United Nations
Where is UN headquarters?
New York, in the USA
What countries are currently not members of the UN?
Vatican City, Kosovo and Taiwan
Share your thoughts about how you feature as being within the top 0.01% of the worlds
population that get a chance to access Further and Higher Education.
It surprised me a bit that the percentage is so low, at I thought the percentage would be a lot higher

How does this make you feel?
We learned that only 56% of the worlds young people get a chance go to Primary school throughout
the world!
What are the remaining 44% of the worlds young people (those that dont get a chance to go to
Primary school) do? What does their day look like? What activities are they involved with?
Research and present 10 images that show how they might be spending their day.
The remaining young people who dont get to go to school, work or provide support for their
families. There day may consist of looking after ill family members or trying to work to earn money
to help their family. For example in Africa young children are going to collect water or work.

What critical reflective observations do you make about the World Population Clock counter and
the Prezi presentation. What strikes you about the information that you have discovered?
It really surprised me how low the percentage was, and comparing the world to the UK, to think the
amount of people in the UK, USA and other massive countries the percentage is still very low, which
is staggering.



The Dodger Stadium is the home to L.A Dodgers, and has a capacity of 50,000, 0.01% of this stadium
is 5 seats, meaning 5 out of 50,000 in the stadium went to primary school.
