Towson University Hussman Center for Adults with Autism Phone Number Email Towson University Adult Autism Center Host Lecture Series The Hussman Center for Adults with Autism hosts Saturdays on the Spectrum to educate audiences on the challenges of adult autism TOWSON, Md. (April 29, 2014) Towson University expanded its reach within the health field in 2012 by creating the Institute for Well-Being. One of those centers within the institute, called The Hussman Center for Adults with Autism, is on mission to provide adults on the autism spectrum with a variety of social, health, and educational resources. The center is also looking to create mutually beneficial relationships between Towson students and the centers participants. One of their standout programs is their Saturdays on the Spectrum Lecture Series: Voices Developing Understanding of Adult Autism. The free, monthly event brings in speakers to share knowledge about a variety of topics affecting the adult autistic population like bullying, sexually, scientific research, and seclusion. The goal of the event is educate parents, students, persons on the spectrum, educators, professionals and other community members on ways to not only improve interactions with persons on the spectrum, but to gain a better understanding of what life is like for the adult autistic population. The hope is that the knowledge gained at the event will be used to improve relationships between businesses, family members, students, and other professionals and those on the spectrum. The Hussman Center for Adults with Autism opened in 2008 and is one of the worlds largest university affiliated programs focusing solely on adult autism. Located just up the street from Towsons main campus, the centers mission is to provide educational experiences for students and professionals as well as conduct faculty-students applied research and outreach activities that support adults on the autism spectrum.
