Myth Club A myth (discussion) club is a group of people who meet to discuss the

close reading of a myth that they have read. It should be much like a "book club" but
for this first time we are going to use our close reading prompts and questions to
discuss the myth. When we have finished, we are going to work together to record
our thoughts on the theme of the myth and our textual evidence to support it and
create a display for the class.

Group Roles:
1. Discussion Director- asks group members to share
their answers to the close read activity, records the
groups ideas on the theme of the myth and keeps
everyone on task. (can be 2 people if the group is
larger than 4)
2. Summarizer- summarizes the best answer when all
have finished sharing and ensures that all group
members have it recorded.
3. Moderator: keeps track of time to ensure all questions
are answered in a timely manner and is the group
member who will communicate with the teacher if
questions arise. (should be covered by the illustrator if
the group has 3 members)
4. Illustrator: Gathers supplies and oversees the final
illustration of the theme and the proper citing of
evidence for that theme. (should be covered by the
moderator if the group has 3 members)

MYTH GROUP ASSIGMENT:

All students should:
A. Complete the close read assignment and edit as necessary.
B. Be involved in the discussions and creation of the final
assignment.

FINAL ASSIGNMENT:

On a sheet of unlined paper:

Side 1: Write the theme your group decided on and illustrate it
Side 2: Provide at least 2 cited pieces of textual information to
support your theme.
