Comparing Data Against School, District
and State

For the NCTS Faculty and Staff Pre-
Planning Meeting
By Jessica Tamburro

Data Objective
O The data that will be shown is to
focus on how we can close the
gap between the achievement
levels and focus in on specific
sub groups that show weakness.
With the data presented, an plan
will be made to help close gaps
for the next school year and
years to come.

Strengths
O NCTS proves to do better than the district
and state on the 6
th
Grade CRCT in
Science for both school years shown.
O Both the racial groups represented at
NCTS took a leap to close achievement
gaps from 11-12 to 12-13.
O The economically disadvantaged took a
tremendous leap in the exceeds area from
11- 12 to 12-13

Weaknesses
O Compared to the district, our school is not
closing the gap of Does Not Meet on the
Science CRCT as fast or in abundance of
students as the other schools in the
district. This may have something to do
with our enrollment.
O The male subgroup is not closing the gap
as fast as the female subgroup when
looking at the exceeds values.

Summary
I believe that NCTS is doing fabulous as
a whole, but looking specifically at the data for
the 6
th
grade Science CRCT, it looks like we are
on the right track. While there are only 2 years
of longitudinal data, it does show a specific
increase and closure in gaps through the data. I
feel fortunate to have went through this data
because I was not the 6
th
grade science teacher
for the 11-12 SY. However, I was for the 12-13
SY and this makes me appreciate my hard work
and dedication to my school and students.
