College of Business Administration Faculty to Receive Faculty Recognition Awards

The College of Business Administrations faculty Jay Muthuswamy, Ph.D, Department of Finance, Arno
Forst, Ph.D., Department of Accounting, Deborah Knapp, Ph.D., Department of Management and
Information Systems, David Dumpe, Ph.D., Department of Finance and Mark Altieri, Department of
Accounting will receive a Faculty Recognition Certificate at the University Teaching Council Conference
on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Kent State University Student Center.

The award is given to a faculty member who has been nominated by a Kent State University student as a
professor who has significantly impacted their life academically.

"I feel honored to be able to make a difference in a student's life. We live in a difficult world and we
need to be open to the world, not closed. My lectures try and make the student think, Muthuswamy
said.

Currently, Muthuswamy is a professor of finance and teaches International Business, Investments and
International Finance Management. His areas of expertise include investments, high frequency
algorithmic trading, derivatives pricing and asset pricing.

"I'm sure that all faculty have a natural desire to make a lasting impression on their students, or we
would be doing something else, Dumpe said. To be publicly recognized by a student for having
achieved that goal is both rewarding and inspiring. It's what provides the motivation for tomorrow and
beyond.

Dumpe is a professor of finance, personal finance for non-finance majors, First Year Experience and
serves as a monitor for finance internships. His areas of expertise include working capital management
and healthcare financial management.

The recipients will be acknowledged by standing collectively at the luncheon and will receive certificates
in their registration packet, along with their nomination form.

The event is free and open to public. The event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday evening in the Kiva and
commences at 8:30 a.m. for a full day of sessions on Friday in the Student Center Ballroom. A reception
will be held immediately following the luncheon to celebrate all teaching award recognitions.

To register for the event, visit the University Teaching Council website at www2.kent.edu/utc/index.cfm.
