Activity:
Students will be playing Charades and using words that are nouns or adjectives. There
will be 6 groups of 5 so students have multiple opportunities to play. One student will
pick out a word from the bucket and it will have a word on it and below it will say verb
or adjective. The student must then act out the word and have group members figure out
what action or word the student is trying to act.

The person on one of the teams that is chosen pick up a card. They will not show anyone
what the card says; only they will know.

When students figure out the word, the person that acted out the word will ask their
group if they think it is a verb or adjective. Students will then discuss why the word is a
verb or adjective based on the lecture presented before class.

Review/Assessment:
Students will be given a worksheet that reads small sentences; their goal is to either
circle or underline a verb/adjective. The teacher can pull up this worksheet on the
projector and do half of the problems with the students and allow the kids to work
independently on the rest of the worksheet.
