Example:SummaryofAuthorsMainPoints:
There have been many cases in which organisms such as fish end up washed up on
beaches due to hypoxia, or little oxygen in the water. This is due to the excessive amounts
of nutrients being incorporated into the ocean water through runoff. When nutrients such as
fertilizers enter the water they boost plant growth in organisms such as algae and
phytoplankton. The growth of these organisms can have negative effects on the
environment, for example, phytoplankton grow and form a thick layer at the surface of the
water and making sunlight impossible to penetrate and reach plants below them. These
organisms also cause the water to lose oxygen, when they die they sink to the bottom
where decomposers break them down and consume oxygen in the process. With an
excess of algae and phytoplankton the decomposition rate increases while the oxygen
levels in the water decrease. This make life for other organisms difficult. Solutions to revive

ThoughtsontheTopic
I think that it is very important to attempt the revival of dead zones around the world.
Reviving dead zones can once again bring biodiversity to parts of the ocean. I agree with
the articles option to persuade the government to establish areas that will be designated
for revival. The usage of nutrient rich substances is also a reasonable way to control and
minimize the effects of eutrophication. In the article, the regions near communist eastern
Europe in 1989 began to recover after the crash of their regime because farmers were
unable to purchase fertilizers. The discontinuation of fertilizers allowed the decrease in
algalandphytoplanktongrowthanditallowedtheforoxygenlevelstoriseonceagain.
