The tropical rain forests are home to a variety of rich flora and fauna, however only a
small fraction of these environment and its species are properly investigated. The major
threat to the biodiversity in tropical rainforests is deforestation, where the logging targets
highly prized tropical wood. Logging or timber companies harvest the most valued trees,
showing little to no concern on the environment as they harvest the trees for fast profit.
Sustainable management requires for logging companies to restraint the amount of trees
that they are cutting and taking into account how much time is needed to replace the trees.
The sustainable management, however, is difficult because the slow harvesting process
brings small benefits to the companies which often win over due to the economic needs of
protection.

The topic and arguments within the article regarding the issue of sustainable
management all lead to the fundamental issue of environmental preservation, economics. I
agree that politics favor the economy over the preservation and conservation of the
environment. The article also presented evidence that although logging companies should
be restrained from cutting too many trees, it is however, causing less damage than other
sustainable management. I believe that the conservation of the environment should receive
