Learning Targets:
Students will be able to use what they learned about the parts of a plant
to write a song.


Inside every seed
Lives a little baby plant
In the wind they blow
Until they find a place to grow

Stems:
Carry water, minerals and sugars up
and down to all parts of the plant
Some stems are long, some stems are
short
The trunk, branch, twig and shoot are
all different types of stems on a tree
Edible stems: Asparagus

Roots:
Suck up water and nutrients
Store food for the future
Hold the plant in place
Hidden underground
Edible roots: Potatoes, carrots, radish

Flowers:
Hold the pollen
Attract bees
Many different colors
Makes seeds that will someday grow
into new plants


Leaves:
Catch sunlight
Have several layers
Have little opening that let water and air
