2. What happens to cows in dairy factories?- antibiotic overuse, artificial hormones, mad cow disease
3. What is rBGH?- artificial growth hormones Why is it given to cows?- to produce more milk
4. What happens to the calves?- separated from mothers and feed blood of dead cows
5. What can be caused by this?- mad cow disease

1. The precautionary principle- factory farms have no been taking necessary precautions to protect the animals or themselves
2. Feed- cows should be fed grasses and silage but many are fed antibiotics and unsavory byproducts.
3. Policy & legislation- corporations that bring factory farms are changing the policy and the government
4. Health- not only is the health of workers and local communities at risk public health is also threatened
5. Community- the closer the house is to a farm the less it is worth.
6. Family farms- since 1930 the US has lost 5 million family farms
7. Cows hoof rot mastitis contagious diseases and horrible living conditions confront cows
8. Milk- milk prices are rising
9. Processing- after they can no longer produce milk they are often sent to the slaughter house
10. Workers- workers on factory farms are often low paid and are subjects to hazardous working conditions some have even
died on the job
11. Downer cows- are often thrown in with other cows which can spread disease.
12. Pesticides pesticide residue accumulate in fat and tissue of animals which can effect humans as well
13. Antibiotics- low daily doses are fed to cows to ward off diseases and make them grow faster this leads to an increase in
antibiotic resistant bacteria.
14. rBGH- artificial growth hormones injected into cows that can effect humans
15. agribusiness- consolidation of milk industry relies n fewer and fewer corporations.
16. waste recycling- methane digesters are not suitable and still leave behind manure, heave metals and other byproducts
17. waste- waste is often over applied to fields which can lead to serious problems and health issues
18. water pollution- runoff from factory farms can nitrate to leach in private drinking wells which pollute streams and kill fish.
