Sarah,

This pre-assessment will help determine how to approach the CCSS of:
CCSS.Math.Content.6.G.A.1 Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special
quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles
and other shapes; apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and
mathematical problems.
This assessment is designed so that it does not take too much time out of your day; the
students shouldnt spend any more than 10 minutes completing this assessment. Please
tell the students that this is completely ungraded, no risk assessment.

The assessment its self is pretty straight forward. The students should use drawings and
words to tell us how the area of a triangle relates to the area of a rectangle. If you have
any questions at all please feel free to e-mail! I look forward to working with you!
Thank you; sincerely

Nicole Swenson
