Timeline of Tecumseh

1768
Tecumseh is Born
Tecumseh was born
on the month of
March. His name
stands for Shooting
Star or Panther
across the Sky. The
exact location of
where Tecumseh was
born is uncertain, but
historians believe
that it was a place
near the Scioto River,
near present day
Chillicothe, Ohio.
Tecumseh was a
Native American of
the Shawnee Tribe.

Tecumseh Falls
Tecumseh is killed in
the Battle of Thames in
October 5, 1813. He
passed away at the age
of 45. The battle took
place near Chatham,
Ontario in Upper
Canada. After his
death, Tecumsehs
confederation, which
went against the United
States, fell apart.
Without their leader, it
was pointless for the
Native Americans to
continue the
association.

Battle of Tippecanoe
The Battle of Tippecanoe
was named after the
Tippecanoe Creek, where
the Native Americans
fought against the United
State forces, which was led
by General William Henry
Harrison. Tecumseh was
gathering more supporters
to go against the
Americans. He put his
brother, Tenskwatawa, in
charge of the Native
Americans. Tenskwatawa
led them to fight Harrisons
men, which resulted in the
Native Americans
abandoning Prophetstown,
and the Americans burning
the town to ashes.

Tecumsehs Confederacy
At first, the group was
formed in the Old
Northwest and was taught
by Tecumsehs brother,
Tenskwatawa. Later on, it
came to have few
thousand warriors.
Although Tecumseh was
already acknowledged as
the leader of the
confederacy, he became
officially known as the
head of the association in
1808. He guided the
Native Americans to go
against the Americans,
which they all agreed on.
Tecumseh was a wonderful
leader who the Native
Americans respected.
Battle of the Fallen
Timbers
The Northwest Indian
Wars final battle was on
August 20, 1794. It took
place at Toledo, Ohio
and was named after the
area the Native
Americans and the
United States fought at.
The location was
destroyed by a
windstorm before the
battle, and the timber
there had fallen. The
United States won this
battle decisively, and
many of the Shawnee
were killed in the course
of action.
Treaty of Greenville
The Treaty of
Greenville was an
outcome of the Battle
of the Fallen Timbers.
Feeling miserable at
the Indians defeat,
Tecumseh opposed of
signing the treaty and
never went to the
following negotiations.
Nevertheless, the
treaty was signed and
named after Ohio,
Greenville. It was a
sign for peace and
harmony between the
United States and the
Native Americans.
