questions, play games, all to help your child prepare for the

In math, please continue to practice multiplication facts with
your child. Knowing these facts are crucial for your child to
understand what we are doing in math. Are starting 2 digit by 2
digit. We are learning a variety of ways to figure out these
types of problems. Some methods may look different from the
more traditional way of solving multiplication problems, but we
are using the distributive property to break apart the problems
using place value. This method will greatly help them in the
future when they begin basic algebra. Mondays homework will
include an example and some problems to solve using this
method. Please encourage your child and help them along with
the process.
We continued brainstorming for our narrative writing. We wrote our body and will be
continuing this next week. We will be completing this writing in sections so we can continue to
discuss each element as we go. A few things to watch for are complete sentences (capitals,
punctuation, subject and predicate) and make sure capitals are not being used randomly
throughout the writing. The reading test has a writing portion on it. This will be part of the
reading test score, but also be worth a grade in the writing grade book.
