Abu Nawas and the King Aaron

The king wanted to test Abu Nawas smartness. So he invited Abu Nawas to the palace. You
want me, your a!esty"# greeted Abu Nawas. Yes, you have $ooled me three times and thats
too much. % want you to leave the country. &therwise you will have to go to !ail# said the king.
%$ that is what you want, % will do what you said# said Abu Nawas sadly. Then 'emember,
$rom tomorrow you may not step on the ground o$ this country anymore# the king said seriously.
Then Abu nawas le$t the king palace sadly.
The $ollowing morning the king ordered his two guards to go to Abu Nawas house. The guards
were very surprised $ound Abu Nawas still in his house. (e had not le$t the country yet. %nstead
leaving the country, Abu Nawas was swimming in small pool in $ront o$ his house. (ey Abu
Nawas, why havent you le$t this country yet" The king ordered you not to step on the ground o$
this country anymore, didnt he"# said the guards. Sure he did# answered Abu Nawas calmly.
)ut look at me* +o % step on the ground o$ this country" No, % do not step on the ground. % am
swimming on the water# continued Abu Nawas.
The guards were not able to argue with Abu Nawas so they le$t Abu Nawas house and went back
to the palace. The guards reported what they had seen to the king. The king was curious on Abu
Nawas e,cuse not to leave the country. There$ore the king ordered his guard to call Abu Nawas
to come to the palace.
Abu Nawas came to the palace on stilts. The king wondered and said Abu, % will surely punish
you because you havent done what % have said. You have not le$t this country#. The -ing
continued And now, look at you. You walk on stilts like a child. Are you cra.y" The king
pretended to be $urious.
% remember e,actly what you said, Your a!esty# Abu Nawas answered calmly. This morning
% took a bath in the small pool in my house so that % had not to step on the ground. And since
yesterday, % have been walking on this stilts. So you see, Your a!esty, % do not step on the
ground o$ this country#. The king was not able to say anything.
