The country of Egypt is such a culturally diverse country and goes through changes constantly.

One of the prides of Egyptians is their ability to maintain traditions and cultures throughout the changes
of the years. Although they find pride in this, there is still a loss of cultural diversity within the country
and it threatens several aspects of culture that the world provides.
The biggest and most talked about cultural change that is happening in Egypt is the push against
Christian communities within the country. This country has been extremely diverse since its origin, even
with that fact there has been a constant push against the minorities. Unfortunately, those who are
Christian and those who live in Christian communities are still being discriminated against. An emerging
question appears to be the need to produce a profound cultural change leading to a true equalitarian
rule of law, where the formation of critical thinking be guaranteed and fundamental human rights
defended unconditionally (Scattolin). This quote was taken 2011. The unfortunate truth is that Egypt
has been suffering from loss of cultural diversity because of internal issues and leadership issues that
have plagued this country for years.
The changes in cultural diversity are not all negative, however. The way that women are looked
at, education status, and meetings to aid in the cultural diversity are positive examples of being in 2014
(Mahmoud). The art of technology alone has made such an immense impact on the culture of Egypt that
it almost outweighs the negativity that is happening within the country. The country has become the
leading economic country in the Middle East. This would not be possible without cultural
interdependence and the allowance of a positive change in culture.
There are other losses that have made an impact on the country, however. Cities who are
expanding due to population growth leads to things like poor water quality and lack of public services
(Countries and their Cultures). There are several examples in which the cultural diversity is being
dwindled. Luckily, there are changes being made and the government is working to stop this negative
effect of times changing.
In 2013 the European Union to Egypt signed a one-million-euro grant which was and is being
used to aid in cultural diversity and creativity in Egypt (News Details). This grant is working to increase
access to different cultures, supporting cultural art and education, it promotes diversity of expression of
cultures, and defines the importance of the link between culture and the development of a culture or
country. This is one example of how the government is working to express the importance of past,
present, and future cultures. I love that it has a plan to include the cultural arts and education because I
think that is the location of the loss of culture. In schools they often do not learn about their own
cultures and other cultures around them. Another great aspect of this is that they are working to
intervene in Egypt cultural industries to ensure that they will not be lost. It is grants like these that
reignite hope within myself that countries and their governments do care about maintaining the past in
order to create a positive future. They see the importance of culture and how the loss of it effects the
country. Unfortunately, it often takes negative events and losses that cannot be recovered to see that
there is a need for a positive change and the governments help.
I think the above example of how the government is working to keep the cultures alive within
Egypt is one to learn from. I only wish that more countries would treat the histories and broad cultures
within themselves with as much respect that the government of Egypt is trying to. While it suffers from
culture loss and tension, they are working a little bit at a time to heal those wounds and create a better
Egypt for the future generations.
