Wow!

It is definitely
winter in Phoenix! Although
we haven't seen any drastic
weather changes, I really
felt some cooler tempera-
tures last weekend! Just
as a reminder, please make
sure your scholar has a
sweater/jacket to wear as
the temperature outside
continues to drop.
In a few weeks, Paideias
Kindergarten team will be
presenting their very own
Readers Theater! More
information about this fun
event is on the backside of
this newsletter!
Please, please, PLEASE
help your scholar to com-
plete their homework sheet
every night, and have them
turn it in on Friday! Schol-
ars who are consistently
completing their homework
have been showing amazing
growth and learning - that
little bit of extra help at
home does wonders! Also,
our class is participating in
the Book-It program, which
rewards scholars for read-
ing a certain number of
books each week. Each
scholar currently has a goal
of 16 books per month, or 4
books a week. Therefore,
if scholars are reading a
book at home with their
family every night for
homework, they meet this
goal! A few scholars got
free pizza coupons last
Friday for doing their
homework reading every
night in October! Good job!
In class, scholars have
been learning about nouns,
verbs, and adjectives. Be-
fore we move on to more
grammar concepts, such as
adverbs, I really want to
strengthen their current
knowledge. This week, we
will really be emphasizing
what a noun is (a person,
place or thing!), what a verb
is (something you can do!),
and what an adjective is (a
word that describes a
noun!).
The scholars at Paideia know all about how to synergize! This week, we will explore
more ways to sharpen this skill, as well as celebrate the many techniques we are
already using with our friends! Our table teams are a really good way to show how
good we are at synergizing, in order to achieve more!

On Wednesday, November 19th, all three Kindergarten classrooms will
present a Readers Theater to their parents and families. Our class will present
the story Fowly Owly, an adaptation of Henny Penny/Chicken Little. Each scholar
will be assigned a part in the play, with a couple scholars for each role. We will be
practicing our parts during the school week, and I hope scholars can practice with
their families at home! Because scholars are not reading fluently yet, we will be
practicing our memorization skills! This will be difficult at first, but most of the
play is repetitive, so I think scholars will get the hang of it!
We hope that all of the scholars families will attend the theater from
1:30-2:30 in the cafenasium on Wednesday, November 19th. As we get a little
closer to the presentation, I will be putting together props and costumes for the
scholars. If any parents/family members would like to help me with this, I can
give you more information as the date nears. Just call/message me for details! :)
Thank you so much for your support! We have already read the story as a
class, and the scholars are very excited to bring this story to life! Its amazing to
see the scholars so engaged in literature and motivated to learn!

Coming Up...
This week begins a new topic in math - length
and measurement! This fun unit will span a few weeks,
and we have a lot of fun activities planned! For Lan-
guage Arts, scholars are breaking down words into
sounds, and creating words with their knowledge of
letters! We will continue to practice our spelling
words and learn new phonograms!
In science, we continue our exploration of
trees and plants. We have our live tree in class, and
we will be planting pumpkin seeds later this week! In
social studies, we are learning all about Christopher
Columbus, and building upon our knowledge of Native
Americans! What a fun and busy week ahead!

Remember to sign your scholars agenda every night! Thank you!
