Name,Purpose&Membership

Section1. ThenameofthisorganizationwillbeKoreanStudentAssociation
(KOSA).

Section2. ThepurposeofKOSAshallbe:
2.1TobeagoodrepresentationofKoreatoESUandEmporia.
2.2ToexchangeculturesbetweenKoreaandAmerica.

Section3. Membership
3.1Membershipinthisorganizationisopentoallstudentsof
EmporiaStateUniversity.
3.2Nopersonshallbeonthegroundsofrace,creed,color,
nationalorigin,religion,age,sex,sexualorientation,
handicap,VietnamEraVeteranStatus,orsuchotherfactorsthatcannotbeconsideredlawfullybe
excludedfromparticipationin,bedeniedthebenefitsof,orbesubjectedtodiscriminationunderany
programoractivitywithinthisorganization.

ARTICLEII
OfficerQualifications,Designations&Duties

Section1. AllofficersmustbedegreeseekingstudentsofEmporiaState
University.

Section2. TheExecutiveCouncilshallconsistofthefollowing:

2.1President
2.2VicePresident
2.3Secretary
2.4Treasurer

Section3. ThepurposeoftheExecutiveCouncil:
3.1 Shallbetheplanningandlegislativebody.
3.2 Shallfulfillthepoliciesenactedbythisorganization.
3.3 Shallhavethepowertoinitiateprogramsandactivitiesforallmembers.
3.4 Shallhavethepowertodirectgrievancesandresolutionstothemembers.

Section4. Dutiesofthepresident:
4.1Presideatandconductallmeetings.
4.2Shallactastheofficialhostandrepresentativeofthisorganizationincampusfunctions.
4.3Shallberesponsibleforimplementinglegislationenactedbytheorganization.
4.4Shallberesponsible,withtheconsultationoftheExecutiveCouncil,toseethatthis
constitutionisadheredto.
4.5Shallhavethepowertocallemergencymeetingswhennecessary.
4.6ShallturninanofficerupdatesheettoAssociatedStudentGovernmentSenateOperations
CommitteeChairaftereachelection.

Section5. Dutiesofthevicepresident:
5.1ShallfulfillthedutiesofthepresidentasstatedinSection3duringtheabsenceofthe
president.
5.2Shalloverseethecommitteesofthisorganization.
5.3Shall,onaweeklybasis,removeandappropriatelydistributethecontentsoftheorganization
mailboxlocatedintheMemorialUnionCenterforStudentInvolvement.

Section6. Dutiesofthesecretary:
6.1Shallberesponsibleformaintainingaccurateminutesofallmeetings.
6.2Shallberesponsibleforcorrespondencetootherorganizationsandindividuals.
6.3Shallberesponsibleformaintaininganaccuraterecordofmemberattendanceatallmeetings.

Section7. Dutiesofthetreasurer:
7.1Shallkeeparecordoffinancesofthisorganization.
7.2Shallberesponsibleforcollectionthestatedduesfromeachmember.
7.3Shallgiveafinancialreportateachmeeting.

ARTICLEIII
ElectionRules&Regulations

Section1. Electionofofficerswillbeheldonasemesterlybasis.

Section2. Theofficesofpresident,vicepresident,secretary,andtreasurerwillbeelected
eachMayandDecember.

Section3. Thiselectionwillutilizeawrittenballot,withasimplemajoritydeterminingthe
winner.

ARTICLEIV
Removal&Succession

Section1. Removal
1.1 Violationofordisregardforanypartofthisconstitutionortheorganizationshallbegroundsfor
removalchargesagainstanyoftheelectedofficers.
1.2 Thegeneralmembershipshallvoteontheremovalresolution.
1.3 Removalshallbeaccomplishedbya2/3majorityofthosememberspresent.
1.4 Removalproceedingsmaybeinitiatedbyanyvotingmember.

Section2. Succession
2.1 Intheeventofremoval,resignation,orvacancyofanyelectedofficer,aspecialelectionshallbe
heldtofillthatposition.

ARTICLEVI
Finances

Section1. Dueswillbecollectedfromeachmemberatthebeginningofeachfallsemester
andspringsemester.

Section2. Thepurposeofsaidduesshallbetoprovidefundingforthesponsoringofevents,
programming,promotionsoftheorganization,andsocialactivities.

ARTICLEVII
Amendments

Section1. Anyamendmenttothisconstitutionmustbeapprovedbya2/3majorityvoteof
thosememberspresentandvoting.
1.1 Anyamendment(s)mustbereviewedbytheCenterforStudentInvolvementstaffforsubmission
totheAssociatedStudentGovernmentStudentSenatetobecomeapartoftherecognizedstudent
organizationsofficialconstitution.
