You will be required to construct a model of a cross section of skin!
Each model must include all of the following parts: 1. Stratum Basale 13. Arrector Pili 2. Stratum Spinosum 14. Hair Shaft 3. Stratum Granulosum 15. Hair Follicle 4. Stratum Lucidum 16. Nerves 5. Stratum Corneum 17. Arteries and Veins 6. Melanocytes 18. Epidermis 7. Thermo receptors 19. Dermis 8. Meissner Corpuscules 20. Hypodermis 9. Nociceptors 10. Pancinian Corpuscules 11. Sweat Glands 12. Sebaceous Glands
Grading: Grades will be based on the following: Model Inclusion: 1. Is your name on the project? 2. Is the model a 3-D representation of skin? 3. Are all the parts included? 4. Are the parts correctly labeled? Each part must be labeled with its name and function. You may label each part or use a key. 5. Are the relationships between the parts (if any) shown correctly? Example: Are the layers of the epidermis in the correct order? Are the sensory receptors located in the correct section of the skin (epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis)? 6. You may use the following materials, but they cannot count as part of the skin model: Container, plastic wrap, paper, or toothpicks.
BONUS: You could be awarded with a bonus (5 extra credit points) if your project is selected to be the Most Accurate, Most Attractive, or Most Delicious. Students will vote to decide the winner in each category.
