Dear Families,

Novembre 2014

I am looking forward to meeting with you on Thursday or Friday. Please check your interview time and write
down any questions you may have before coming in to insure all questions and concerns are addressed.
French Language: This month in French, the focus will be on objects found in the classroom. Students have
been introduced to many vocabulary words already at school.

Science: In Science, the students continue to investigate seasonal changes as well as discuss why some
animals migrate, adapt or hibernate to survive the different seasons. In addition, the students will be discussing
the different adaptations made by humans during the different seasons.
Math: In Math, the focus will continue to be on Number Relationships. Students will be working on number
formation by printing the numerals, printing number words, and simple problem solving. In the next couple of
weeks, the class will move onto Time, Temperature and Money. This unit is very interactive where students are
very hands on with classroom materials.
English: The students will continue to read stories together and independently. Students will be introduced to
additional reading strategies to help them with their own reading. When writing, students will continue to focus
on letter formation, punctuation and spacing. We will also continue to work on listening skills.
Home Reading Program: Your child is encouraged to continue to read their level books they bring down a few
times before exchanging for new ones.
Word Wall Words: Starting this month, your child will be bringing home a package of word wall words/sight
words to review and practice at home. Please encourage your child to review the word wall words daily. This
will help to improve their reading ability and journal writing skills.
Website: Please check the classroom website daily for important information and updates. The link is
http://drennangradeone.weebly.com and the password is gradeone.
Clothing: Now that it is getting cooler, please label all clothing that will be removed: hat, mittens, coats, snow
pants, sweaters etc. It assists greatly when items are easy to identify! It is also, still very important to have
indoor shoes at school. Running shoes are recommended as they can also be worn for gym.
Thanks for a great start to the school year! Please encourage your child to share their experiences at school
with you.

Thank you

Mme. Drennan
