Introduction to Christian

Education
EDUC310

Review of Week 8:
1. Schools are changing Should we?
a. Teachers are still instrumental, vital to schools
b. Depersonalization of schools may have much
broader implications
2. Standards keep us accountable
a. Written standards show teachers the broad scope
of their content area
b. Standards may help us narrow instruction to core,
vital components necessary for our students
3. Preparation: Heart, Hands, Eyes, Mind, Lesson

Objective 1:
By the end of this class, students will be able to
identify qualities of effective communicators in
a classroom setting.

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with
thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would
open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery
of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make
it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward
them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your
speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt,
that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

"Highly effective teachers are intentional about

their teaching. Good teachers are clear about
what they're trying to teach and then master a
broad repertoire of instructional strategies to help
students accomplish their learning goals. They
know not only what to do to support student
learning but how, when, and why to do it."

student success. Alexandria, VA: ASCD.

And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be

Praying always with all prayer

and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for
all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be
given unto me, that I may open
my mouth boldly, to make
known the mystery of the gospel,
For which I am an ambassador in
bonds: that therein I may speak
boldly, as I ought to speak.

Body language expresses human emotion

Withitness: Connection with people (see Marzano, R.J.)
Poise - an expression of an internal confidence
Eye contact - establishing & keeping focus
Hand motions - directing, leading, enforcing
Presence - nearness to students, proximity
Time - allowing for non-instructional investment
Appropriate - Always above-board, Godly, kind,
a testimony of the organization you work for and
more so a testimony of Christ

Consider the Eternal Nature of Gods Word

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but
My words will by no means pass
away.
Matthew 24:35 NKJV

...For ever, O LORD,

thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:89 KJV

Objective 2:
By the end of this class, students will be able to
identify practical ways in which learners can
express what they know - and how educators
can assess student learning.

What do students know?

1. Written proofs
a. Writing can assess cognition and logical thinking
b. Drawing graphs, calculating math problems,
completing diagrams can draw on organizational
skills
2. Verbal proofs
a. Some students are poor writers and excellent
speakers interesting, huh!
b. Oral exams are an option but should accompany
written
3. Performance proofs: acting, gestures, playtime...

Parenting...

Parting shot...
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. Wherefore
take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be
able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.
Eph 6:11-13 KJV
