Reflections on

Saints and Heroes...No Less

Id like to share words and phrases that made an impression to me during the event:
Conquer my world. Invade me, Lord.
Sometimes, we tend to put Christ in a box, that is, in just some areas of our lives. Christ should
permeate our whole life both the worldly and the spiritual. This phrase can be a short prayer as well
asking God to take hold of your life and use it for his glory.
Be abnormal. Be weird... for Gods glory.
The world sees altruistic people today as abnormal, which reflect a reversal of Gospel values. The
conference affirms that a Christian should be selfless and is not afraid to go against the flow.
To love is to be willing to be hurt. Dont love if you dont want to get hurt.
When you love Christ, suffering and pain is part of loving. You cant live without loving, because God
created us in His image and likeness and out of LOVE. And to love is to suffer for the beloved.
Find Jesus everywhere not just in the church. The world is a vast field (business, family, or even
profession) where you can encounter Christ.
Let us not compartmentalize God-encounters inside the church. We can encounter God EVERYWHERE.
Its up to us to see what lies beyond and inside everyone.
What are the indicators for a healthy parish?
1. There are more catechists than lay ministers
2. The parish has produced priest/seminarians and nuns.
3. All families are praying the rosary.
Bishop Soc emphasized these following indicators for a healthy parish. I think this is also applicable in
the creation of BECs in the parish and can be a guide in its mission/vision. I realized that the parish that I
belong to needs to work harder to achieve the three indicators stated but I am hopeful that it will come
in fruition in His time.
