TEACHING EXPERIENCE
September 2009 April 2010
Used Readers Workshop and Writers Workshop to deliver the ELA program. Components included: minilessons, independent reading or writing activities, individual or small group conferencing with students, and
closure activities; Assessed students formatively through reading journals and conferencing; Assessed students
summatively using the Developmental Reading Assessment, Developmental Writing Assessment, and district
benchmark assessments.
Used Everyday Mathematics using the Math Workshop format. Components included: journaling, grouping to
differentiate learning, using manipulatives, and interactive Power Point presentations; Assessed students
formatively through math journals, conferencing, and nightly Study Link assignments; Assessed students
summatively using unit tests and district benchmark assessments.
Other responsibilities included: Assumed all responsibility for lead teaching role in planning, teaching, and
assessment for ten weeks; Utilized support staff to help differentiate instruction and meet the needs of a diverse
group of students; Organized non-instructional activities, from lunch counts to pizza reward parties; Promoted
lifelong readers by making personalized reading recommendations for students based on reading interests;
Participated in school-wide events and assemblies; Created an interactive whiteboard using a Wii remote.
EMPLOYMENT
September 2013-Present
Volunteered time for after school clubs and activities which included: Scholars Club, scoring basketball games,
cross country and after school homework help for those who needed it; ability to quickly adapt when there were
emergencies among building staff; Received coaching position with school track team.
6th Grade Social Studies: Collaborated with team teachers to design and execute daily lessons; Performed a
full unit of of social studies from pre testing and initial lesson to the end Benchmark assessment; Used multiple
elements of technology (Document Camera and projector for lessons and movies, Chromebooks for pretests, class
exploration and online projects); Used Skyward to take attendance, post grades, and behavior issues; attended
grade level and subject meetings used to help improve my knowledge of technology, teaching tactics and improve
school unity.
7th Grade Mathematics: Collaborated with team teachers to design and execute daily lessons, Used Connected
Math Practice or CMP3 lessons, quizzes and reviews to help students look at math and calculations in a different
way; Used multiple elements of technology (Document Camera and projector for lessons and movies,
Chromebooks for pretests, class exploration and online projects), Used Skyward to take attendance, post grades,
and behavior issues; attended grade level and subject meetings used to help improve my knowledge of
technology, teaching tactics and improve school unity
Responsibilities included: Carrying out the lesson plans and instructions in the absence of the classroom teacher.
June 2006-Present
Responsibilities include: Planning and organizing lesson plans for Middle School aged students, implemented
Conscious Discipline. Created real life lessons that students can use in a real life situations such as cooking,
cleaning, CPR, First Aid and building resumes.
