COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to introduce language teaching professionals to the
concept and practice of evaluation. They`ll examine the nature, principles, and
practice of evaluation and develop a framework that may be subsequently used
by readers of testing students` language abilities but present an expanded view of
evaluation that may be used as a means to curriculum and teacher development.
This course also helps teachers write better valid and reliable tests by learning the
view that test construction is essentially a matter of problem solving, with every
teaching situation setting a different testing problem.
Besides, it presents the importance of distinguishing basic terms in assessment and
evaluation: validity, reliability, practicality, and beneficial backwash or the
favorable effects tests can have on teaching and learning.
It provides the student-teacher with the opportunity to experience the test
administration and revision as a way to prepare them for the real teaching
practice.
COMPETENCY
Distinguishes the different terms, evaluation methods and skills when creating and
administrating his/her own valid and reliable tests in his/her real teaching practice.

GENERALITIES
To final test right, a minimum of 31 points mark is necessary.
Homework will be handed in on the designed dates.
Students who come in 15 minutes later cannot come in.
