Philosophy of Education
A lot of students are kinesthetic learners who learn better by hands on activities. Field
trips and labs are things that kinesthetic learners love while being in school. They learn more
about a subject while seeing it and touching it. Field trips should be to places where students will
learn a lot of important things while there. Whenever I was a student I personally learned more
by writing everything down. I also loved going on field trips and doing hands on activities it
taught me many social skills and a lot about the things were learning.
A philosopher I have come to like a lot is John Dewey. His idea was that children went to
school to do things and live in a community which gave them real, guided experiences which
fostered their capacity to contribute to society. For example, Dewey believed that students
should be involved in real-life tasks and challenges. He came to develop progressivism which
organizes schools around the concerns, curiosity, and real-world experiences of students.
People become teachers because of the love of the job and children or young adults. They
dedicate all of their time to education and teaching. A teachers job is not only to educate
students but to teach them on things outside of the classroom that they need to know. They
should educate them on everyday things and the real world instead of only teaching things out of
books or things on certain test. Test can only get you so far but real world knowledge can take
you far in life. Teachers need to do more hands on activities because it shows students how to be
more sociable, and they get a better understanding of what they are learning.
Whenever I become a teacher I plan on including every single student in each subject or
activity that we have in the classroom. Teachers some time tend to single students out and dont

give others a chance to speak their mind or answer questions. In my future classroom we wont
only rely on books for learning but rather on activities and group work. Students like to feel a
part of activities that are happening in the classroom. Being a part of things make all of the
students more engaged and they tend to learn better. Its important for students to be more
sociable and able to get to know their classmates by working together on work. I believe that
schools should provide most of the supplies that students will need except for the everyday
basics such as pencils, pens etc. School districts should provide all of the necessary books that
the students will need for extra learning in the classroom.
A classroom should be a fun place that students would want to be in. The more colorful
and fun the classroom is the more that the students feel engaged. When I was in elementary
school, most of my teachers had many posters and different colors all throughout the classroom.
The classrooms made me feel more welcomed and it actually made me want to learn. Every
student should love to go to school and learn more things. Schools shouldnt be only based on
standardized test, they should be based on the education that the students are getting.
