Automatic Control and Robotics (PART I)
Answer the Following Questions;
Use Neat Sketches and Assume any Data Required;
1, Analyze the component of yarn irregularity. Discuss the necessity of
controlling the yarn evenness and how it can be done during spinning in
modern spinning mills. (10 marks)
2, Explain what is meant by “robot” and discuss the general mechanical
construction of a robot. Choose one of the operations with designed robotic
arm used in the textile machineries in order to improve their work. Give a
sketch of the designed robotic arm and explain the main parts. (10 marks)
3. In the ease of flexible manufacturing, discuss the importance of using
Automation systems in the textile industry. Explain why the introduction of
the automation is a necessity in modern textile mill. Describe and give a
practical example how it improves the cost, productivity, and the yarn quality
of the textile mills. (15 marks)
4. Analyze the timing diagram of the automatic doffing on the ring spinning
machine. Show how it affects the cost of the yarn manufacturing and the
possibility of machine linkage to winding. (15 marks)Alexandra University

5. Discuss the effect of the machine speed increase at the different sections of
the spinning mill on the requirement of an automatic transportation.
Figure (1) shows the number of machines required for the production of 160
kg/hr of combed yarn of count 40 Ne for three spinning mills. Give your
comment and explain in full details one of the systems used for an automatic
transportation between the different sections. Calculate the degree of
automation on the modern ring spinning mill. (15 marks)
