Safety Procedures Because the Feeder is a high speed electro- mechanical device, all of the following precautions shauld be taken while installing, operating, or servicing this product: Never operate the unit in an area where it might come into contact with water, fluids, flammable materials, wires, cables, or unprotected power sources. Never store or place any objects near the CFF during its operation. Never abuse, remove or modify any part of the CFF assembly. Never attempt service or maintenance procedures which are not specifically described in this manual. Refer servicing to an authorized Minolta Dealer. Never remove any of the protective covers or attempt to service the CFF while it is plugged into an electrical power source. Do not attempt to operate the OFF if it malfunctions or has been damaged, Never replace the fuses in this product with a different fuse type than the one originally supplied. C. CFF Description ‘The CFF has a number of parts and assemblies which will be referred to throughout this manual. The following descriptions are provided in order to introduce you to these items and to make this manual easier to understand. 1. Stack Limit Labels - Indicate the maximum height of the paper stack 2. Rear Paper Guide - Feeds output underneath the CFF 3. Power Cord Receptacle - Accepts the AC power cord 4. Main Power Switch - Turn the power to the machine on and off 5. Ready Indicator Light - Lights to indicate that the CFF is powered on 6. Wide/Narrow Paper Selector - Allows selection of wide or narrow paper 7. Installation Position Arrows - Used to align the CFF with the Copier 8. Drive Sprockets - Pull the continuous form paper through the CFF ©. Paper Guides - Assist the paper in traveling smoothly through the CFF 10. Overview ‘The CFF must be properly installed in order for it to function in combination with the copier. Once the CFF has been aligned, it may be easily removed and installed by the operator. If you are installing the CFF forthe firsttime, refer to the installation instructions in the operations manual B. Alignment 1. Raise the platen cover or automatic document feeder (ADF). 2. Verity the CFF is not connected to AC power. (Disconnect if necessary) 3. Place the CFF on the platen glass and align the CFF with the alignment arrows. 4. Load forms into the OFF. 5. CFF Settings ‘The CFF is set from the factory to run either Letter (8.6°x11") or Ledger (14.75" x 11") size forms and must be configured for any other size. If you use forms that do not have an 11" vertical length, you will need to change the DIP switch settings inside of the CFF. Loading Forms 1. Place the forms to be copied face-up onto the paper stack area of the OFF. 2, Align the left edge of the paper stack with the arrow on the stack limit label. 3, Feed the first sheet through the rear paper guide untl it appears at the bottom, 4. Open the right and left sprocket covers by gently liting them upward 5. Unlock the right and left tractors by gently pulling forward on the lock levers. 6. Position the right and let tractors underneath the drive holes in the paper. 7. Align the holes of the paper with the pegs ofthe right and lett tractor wheels 8. Close the tractor covers and lock the tractors in place using the lock levers. Continuous Forms Feeder -2 7 Operation Service/Parts Manual B. Aligning Forms In order to produce correct copies using the CFF, you. must first align the forms. + Turn the power switch on the CFF to the off position. + Select “1 Copy" from the copiers control panel. + Select the page orientation (portraiviandscape) from the copier control panel. + Select the proper reduction setting from the copiers control panel + Press Start on the copier's control panel to check the form alignment, + Turn the CFF drive belt to adjust the top of form + Ifnecessary, move the right and let tractors to align the form's left edge + Press Start on the copier’s control pane! to verify proper alignment + Repeat unti the forms are aligned properly C. Operating Hints Here are a couple of tips to help you obtain better results when using the Feeder. + Leave 2 or 3 extra pages at the end of your printed forms to act as a “leader” + After you align the top of form, remember the number of holes above the perf for future reference. (For example 8 holes between the perf and the Feeder.) ‘+ When you print a document to be copied write down or remember the total number of pages. This will allow you to select the correct number of copies.
