RACIAL

Racial
Racial profiling and racial inequality has been talked about and practically unstoppable
for basically as long as mankind was able to recognize the differences between people due to
their skin color or their actions and beliefs. Racism is a global pandemic, a poison that has sicken
thousands today and millions in the past and although slavery has been abolished in most parts of
the world, racial profiling in terms of racial slurs and religious slurs might never dissipate(Ptsov
RP). Throughout the centuries many ethnic groups and religions have risen all of which have
prosecuted other ethnic groups for being different than them, an example would be when the
Romans crucified Jesus for bringing Christianity into their empire and turning people away from
their beliefs. Though racial profiling has affected the world this argument will only focus on a
few races, primarily those that occurred in America.
The first race to be subjected to racial inequality in America is not Africans or those of
African descent like many would like to believe, but it is actually the Native Americans that
were the first to treated so horribly when the colonists from Europe came to America and began
to force the Native Americans out of their homes and into less favorable and crop producing
land. The Colonists and their more advanced weapons, primarily firearms, were able to
overpower the Native Americans even though the natives had more numbers and new the land
better than the Colonists ever could. The Native Americans also feared the horses that the
Colonists rode on due to the Native Americans having never seen horses before and had thought
that they were actually part man and part beast, this fear was exploited by the Colonists as they
sometimes rode into battle on more horses than necessarily needed. The Colonists, after basically
defeating the Native Americans, began to take their lands and sometimes even their women, it
was rare that the Colonists would treat the Natives Americans somewhat fairly, but even then

RACIAL

they would take advantage of them by trading them objects that had little to no monetary value to
the Colonists or the rest of the world, but were unique to the Native Americans due to them not
ever seeing anything similar to the object and that they were lied to by the Colonists that it was
actually very valuable. Throughout the decades the Native Americans treatment would grow
worse as they were blamed for anything that went wrong around the Colonies and then came the
Trail of Tears which was the relocation of the Native Americans out of the southeast of the
United States following the Indian Removal Act of 1830 implemented by President Andrew
Jackson. Throughout this forced relocation none of the Native Americans were allowed to ride in
any carts not even the elderly and children, meaning that they all had to walk thousands of miles
causing many of them to die from exhaustion. When the Native Americans, that were able to
survive the trip, arrived at their appointed homes they soon realized that the lands they were
being forced to live on were in poor conditions and would require lots of work to make them able
to produce crops. The United States would finally realize their mistreatment of the Native
Americans decades upon decades later and would start to give restitution to the Native
Americans by giving them back land if they could prove if it was their ancestral land and they
would give them anything that was seen as equal value, but the problem with this is the people
who are against giving the Natives back their belongings saying that due to the trades being
legal that the Native Americans were not cheated out of their land and other valuables(Ptsov
RTN).
African Americans are the most known and most publicly targeted race of racial
profiling, discrimination, and prejudice in American history from the times of African Slave
Labor and the Triangle Trade Route, to the Civil Rights movement of the mid 1900s, and then
finally all the way to this very day. Africans and those of African descent that live in America or

RACIAL

has lived in America within the last 70 to 80 years all know and have experienced so form of
racial profiling even if they did not consciously noticed it at the time if ever at all. Although
slavery is the darkest time in the past of those of African descent this will mostly focus on what
has happened in recent times, but for now I will begin with how those of African descent did
more for this country that a lot of people do not know of. This is about how African Americans
have participated in every war in American history even during times of slavery. African
Americans have served since the American Revolution as thousands of Africans, free or
enslaved, fought in the war and at its end only about 20 percent of the thousands of African
slaves were freed from slavery, this shows that while not against free blacks that the government,
at the time, would not show their appreciation to all of those that served (army).
African Americans throughout the history of the United States have shown unwavering
loyalty to this country even after their horrible treatment, so much so that during World War II
Hitler dropped hundreds of pamphlets from his planes to the African American soldiers telling
them that if they were to join him that they and their families would not have to suffer anymore,
but not one African American soldier join him not even after hearing all of his promises to live
better lives. This shows that their loyalty to this country runs deeper than their own happiness
and so deep that they would overlook their past treatment to stay where they call home. The
Tuskegee Airmen was a group made up of the first ever trained African American pilots and was
most known for their skilled aerial combat and escort abilities. These men became famous in
WWII due to their 100% success rate in their escorting of cargo planes and throughout the war
they escorted hundreds of planes and their reputation grew so much that there were other would
not fly cargo planes unless they had the Tuskegee Airmen with them(army). African Americans
have served this country without complaint since its founding and has continued to serve it even

RACIAL

after the cruelty that they had to suffer even when they were beaten, killed, and imprisoned just
for being black if this doesnt show that anything can be conquered nothing does.
The most recent and prevalent showing of racial profiling world wide has been the racial
profiling of those of Muslim, Arabic, and Iraqi religious beliefs and descent. When asked a lot of
people would most likely say the reason behind this is because of the attack on the World Trade
Center by Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda, and a lot of them would be telling the truth, but in
actuality it is their own fear of the religion of these people. This is because of the way that people
of these races and their practiced religions caused them dress in a way that makes them look, in a
way, untrustworthy and it has only been made worst by the fact that suicide bombers will wear
these abayas, jilbabs, and hijabs to hide the bombs on their bodies before running into a crowd of
people and blow themselves up, this has created a fear, although small, in people who see others
in this type of clothing and unfortunately it is understandable why they feel that way. Recently I
have seen a video on Vine that has a man in these clothes sit down next to another man and begin
counting down from which for no real reason scared the other man into running believing that a
bomb was about to go off and even though it was meant to be a joke it was kind of offensive due
to the dress of the person counting. Osama bin Laden and almost all of Al Qaeda are gone now,
but now ISIS has appeared and even though President Obama and other leaders have told us that
ISIS do not represent their people nor do they represent the religions of their homes a lot of us
still continue to believe that they do even though they clearly do not have the support of the
civilians and the government that is being established there.
After all this time and all of the human races changes we still cannot truly accept change
and possibly we never will at this rate, but I think that we can even though others cant accept it

RACIAL

at this time. Although I do understand the thoughts of others I feel that they need to be more
open minded to other people and their beliefs.
