Theories:
Likerts System III: Consultative
Rewards and some punishment
Employees at Elite Athletics will receive bonuses, raises, and rewards based on
their performance. Punishment will be given in the event of a rule being broken per the
Employee Handbook. However, in the event of a rule-breaking, the employee will have
the opportunity to go through a three-strike process. In the event that the employee has
exhausted all three-strikes, termination will be enforced.
Top for general decision making; specific decisions are made lower
General decision making is made by the Board of Trustees and the three CEOs
of Elite Athletics. For more specific decisions, regarding in-store affairs, the managerial
staff on site makes the decision-making.
Communication flows downward; upward with some constraints
The hierarchical status of communication mainly flows downward from the
Board of Trustees, CEOs, and managerial staff. However, Elite Athletics believes in
strong communication and equal opportunities to each of our employees; with that
there is room for communication to be received upwards through the proper channels
i.e. hourly employees to managerial staff.
McGregors Theory Y
Commitment to objectives:
Employees at Elite Athletics will be committed to the Companys objective,
which is outfitting the All-American and offering exemplarily customer service. This will
result in high-level production. They will have a passion for working at Elite Athletics and
promoting the Company in a positive manner.
Expenditure of physical and mental effort:
Employees at Elite Athletics will find that working at the organization is going to
come naturally. If the employee is passionate about serving customers and the
community, it will not seem like they are working, but essentially playing and enjoying
their work environment.
Seek Responsibility:
Employees at Elite Athletics will learn to seek responsibility. Due to the nature of
the Company, there will always be something or someone to be working on/with a task
or goal that the management has set for the store; whether that is in store, or in the
community.
Effective Participation
Employees at Elite Athletics will know they have a place in the organization.
Through rewards and bonuses, employees will see that the fruition of their work is

13

valued. The managerial staff will set obtainable objectives and task for the store
employees to compete for these rewards.
Concern for relationships
Employees at Elite Athletics will realize the importance of relationships from the
