Group Analysis of Strengths & Weaknesses

Summarize gifts: Overall our group has very strong individual members. We are all team
leaders and willing to put in the hard work in order to complete our event. Everyone in the
group understands the responsibility that it will take when completing this planning
process and everyone is on board with doing their part to get it done. Each of us possesses
positive communication skills that will benefit the group throughout the entirety of this
process. Each of us brings a certain aspect to the table and although we are all hard
working, everyone is very creative in their own way as well.
Summarize shortcomings: All of our team members have take-charge personalities so we
will have to delegate the tasks that needed to be handled accordingly. However, we do not
see this as a shortcoming because we are all willing to put in the work. After reviewing the

individual CBAs we all had a common shortcoming of writing when our interests are not
involved. In this situation we do not feel as though this will be a challenge because we are
all on board and passionate about our goal for this project. When someone sees a
shortcoming, another member can fill those gaps. There is a nice overlap on technological
skills so we are all confident that we can help each other through this process.
Strategy for Failure to Comply with Team Operating Agreement: If there is an instance
where any of these shortcomings could potentially fail us we will take action accordingly.
Here is a hypothetical situation and how we would handle it if something was to occur.
Hypothetically speaking, if Tyler was to feel overwhelmed with the tasks that the group has
delegated to him and began to neglect the project requirements we would take action
accordingly. In this instance we have appointed Sarah to be the spokesmen for the group
and stress the importance of completing work on time and the importance of contributing
to the group work. She would then offer for us to sit down in a meeting and discuss the issue
at hand, additional instruction if needed, and the ways in which we can make sure the tasks
continue to get completed on time.
Balance: In order to fully compensate for all of the work that is required for this event
planning process we will be working through things collectively. Each time there is a team
meeting we will reconvene and come to an agreement on the delegation of work that is
distributed. For instance, if someone shows weakness in the area of writing we will have
another group member who embodies strengths in those areas act on that task. If someone
shows precision with advertisements and flyers we were delegate those materials that way.
We have evenly distributed the work in order to make the overall balance of the project lie
amongst the four of us equally.
What does the information suggest regarding how to be successful individually and
as a team? We all understand what our strengths and weaknesses are. There is a lot of
overlap in our strengths and for our weaknesses there are others who can pick up in those
areas. We feel we will be a very efficient team and have a good balance of personalities that
will be able to execute this project well. If in an instance there are discrepancies that occur
we will appoint a member of the team based on the situation to take action on resulting the
issue. The four of us will all take part in monitoring the behaviors of the rest of the group in
order to give everything the same power as the other. Attached to the back of this packet is
an evaluation sheet where we will perform evaluations on a week to week basis leading up
to the event.

Work Ethic

Reward

Reprimand

Culture

Communication

Rank Components: cognitive and behavioral

1
Focused and very hard working; understand that there is a
great deal of work associated with planning an event and the
willingness to take on your share of the tasks to complete
everything; one member slacks off it could allow everyone to
fall behind; tasks done on time, not last minute
3
Work efficiently, get things done in a timely manner so we can
make this a great event; busy schedules often conflict, but a
described amount of time needs to be allocated to planning,
procrastination should be minimized by following a set
schedule clear schedule allows things to go smoothly and
helps prepare for the unexpected
4
Reach our goal and successfully coordinate and execute our
event with great teamwork; Reward based and strive to not
only receive good grades but to gain knowledge and a better
understanding of the process, learning is a reward; biggest
reward would be being a part of something great and executed
well; See your hard work pay off
6
Talk about the issue and come to a compromise and/or
resolve it the best way we see fit; reprimand isnt necessary as
an adult and we will encourage one another in a positive
manner to complete the work on time; Consequences for
excessive behavioral issues and will be determined on a need
to know basis
5
Be positive about all aspects of the process and make it a very
fun and beneficial project; in this situation we are all peers
and have a decent understanding of the shared culture and the
nature of the process that we are undertaking, it should be
quite relaxed; each member should bring something to the
table; stay on good terms with teammates so that
communication and mood stays positive
2
Be available to discuss all aspects of the event when needed,

be a part of class meetings and outside meetings; similar

communication styles and an overall understanding of how
one another communicates is highly beneficial to the success
of the group; respond in a timely manner, clear
communication will result in a smooth planning process
Performance Appraisal: The group understands the work it takes in order to complete the
task at hand. Although it is hard to foresee the future, we all feel as though everyone will
participate accordingly and do what it takes in order to make this the best event as possible.
We all agree that we will listen to one another and hear out everyones ideas. We will all
communicate in a professional manner and get back to one another when we need to
discuss an issue. Everyone realizes the importance of an open line of communication
planning an event such as this. Everything will be turned in on time and we all agree that we
want to stay ahead of the game and not let things slip through the cracks. We will all pay
attention to detail and continue to be creative throughout the whole process in order to
make the most of this event. Openly communicating about issues that may occur is crucial in
order to fill in the cracks and make sure everything gets completed. After discussing the
reprimand portion we do not feel that this is an issue but we decided we will handle this as
it happens, taking action where we see necessary given the extent of the misconduct. If
something is a serious issue the group will then vote on the potential dismissal of a
teammate.
In the event that a member of the group does not fulfill these requirements, we have
implanted a plan to have one member of the group confront that individual regarding the
issue. We feel as though it is better to have one person address the issue instead of having
the team member feel attacked if the remaining three members confront them all together.
As a group we have divided the work evenly into parts and have established the open line of
communication amongst the four of us. In order to actively make sure that our weaknesses
do not fail us, we will continue to stay on top of our work and if for some reason a member
of the group feels as though they are overwhelmed we will then reconvene to discuss
possibly dividing the work again.

h. Budget Concerns: We will seek out donations from companies in the local
community. One of our concerns is reaching out to these companies before other
groups do so they do not get exhausted with the need for excessive donations. We
are also fearful that we will not get the supplies that we need to make the event
happen donated. We have implemented a guide in order to make our efforts easier
on what we plan to receive from where. We hope to have $0 in out of pocket
expenses.
