STEP 1:
PLAN THE
PARTY

Plan the Party

Create a list.
The supply list in the introduction of this book would be a great place to start. However,
you probably already own a lot of these supplies so make sure you tailor your list to
your specific needs. Do not forgot all of the smaller items like paper towels or trash bags
that you will need.

Buy your supplies.

Try to make this a one-stop shopping trip. Wal-Mart should have everything on your list
and at the lowest price. Do not worry about spending too much money. You can always
ask people attending your party to pay up.

Tailgating For Dummies

Map a spot.
Most stadiums have fairly strict rules about tailgating. Usually there are specific areas
that have been designated for tailgating parties.
To find more info:
1.) Go to www.unt.edu
2.) Go to the athletics tab
3.) Click Maps & Parking
4.) Click on link at bottom labeled The hill tailgating area
Be sure to tell your friends where you plan to tailgate! Remember to leave the tailgating
area just as clean as you found it.

Invite your friends.

After all of the prep work to get this tailgating party planned out, you can finally start to
invite your friends and family. An effective method to get the word out is through social
media. Create a Facebook group or simply send out a mass text!

STEP 4:
GAMES

Games

Games
Beer Pong
2-4 players.
Youll want to set up the table first.
Next get out your cups (10 for each
person).
Youll want to set them up into a
triangle.
Per your beverage, youll pour in a little
in each cup.
You will then take a ping pong ball and
begin by throwing it in to your
opponents cup.
Try to be the first person to clear the
other persons cups.

Ladder Ball
2-4 players
Youll take all the supplies out of the
bag.
Set up the fixtures to where each has
three levels and is held together by a
base.
Once both fixtures are assembled, split
the balls in half.
This game is played by throwing your
balls underhand to the other fixture.

16

Tailgating For Dummies

You can score by having your ball wrap

around either the top, middle, or bottom
pole.
The top pole is worth 3 points, middle is
worth 2 points, and the bottom is worth
1 point.
It takes 21 points to win.
You cant go over 21 though, you must
score 21 flat.

Corn Hole
2-4 players
You will set up the boards about 27 feet
apart.
You then will split up the bags per
person/team.
Scoring is simple. After all bags have
been thrown, a bag remaining on the
board is worth 1 point. A bag that went
in the hole is worth 3 points. Add up
how many points you earned and
compare them to your opponents. Equal
points cancel each other out so that only
one team can score per round. For
example, if you scored 5 points and your
opponent scored 3, you will add 2
points to your overall score and your
team will throw first in the next round. If
you scored 6 points and your opponent
scored 6 as well, there will be no points
awarded and whoever threw first in the
last round will throw first again.

Games
A game is won when a team reaches 21
points with a lead of 2 or more points.
The first team to win 2 games wins the
match.
Of course, you can play with your own
rules. For example, some play with the
rule that you must reach 21 exactly. If
you go over in points, your score is
automatically reduced to 11 and play
continues. Another variation is to count
every point (no negation of equal
points) and see who has the most points
at the end of 13 rounds.

Tossing the football

2 players and up

1. The Grip. There isnt a standard

grip, so find the one thats
comfortable for you. Super Bowl
Champions Peyton and Eli
Manning prefer a grip with two
fingers the ring and pinky
across the second and fifth laces.
Make sure there is a bit of space
between the ball and your hand.
2. Hold the ball with both hands at
chest level, feet shoulder-width
apart. Body is perpendicular to
your target.

18

3. Step towards your target with

you lead leg. Bring your throwing
arm straight back. Elbow should
be above shoulder. Rotate hand
slightly so the point of the ball
points towards your head.
4. Quickly rotate forward around
your waist and throw the ball
overhanded.
5. The Release. At the point of
release, throwing hand and arm
should be fully extended toward
the target. To achieve the perfect
spiral, focus on the fingers. Let
your fingertips linger on the ball
as long as possible so the ball just
rolls out of your hand. Your hand
should pronate down and your
index finger is the last part of
your body that should touch the
ball.
6. When the ball has left your hand,
your thumb should be facing
down and your palm facing out.
Back leg should come forward as
you finish the throw.
7. Throw your fists up in the air and
celebrate your perfect spiral.
