Introduction

This project will allow for students to grow through storytelling. They will
need to use their creative thinking skills and put into practice information
learned from previous lessons in English class. Through this project
students will be able to practice proper punctuation, complete sentences,
creative thinking, and speech. Students will have the chance to relate
personal experiences to their story. By presenting, each student will be
able to practice communication and respect for their classmates opinions.

Objectives

The objectives will be:

1. To think critically about random pictures and be able to create a story
about all of them.
2. They need to be able to create a coherent story with a beginning,
middle, and end.
3. They will need to be able to speak clearly, and enunciate words. This
really helps them improve their speech skills.

Preparing the
Student

To prepare students for this lesson, teachers will need to teach or review
the basic components of what makes a story. For example, characters, plot,

setting, etc. Students will also need to know how to develop a proper thesis
that creates a foundation of what they are going to go over in their story.
Teachers will also need to demonstrate how to speak clearly and with a
proper tempo into the microphone as the teacher is holding it, also keeping
volume in mind.
Assessment of
Student Learning

Assessments of Student Learning (formative and summative/individual and

group; Blooms Taxonomy)
Create: Students will create a story to play to the class.
Evaluate: Students will evaluate other students work through their
presentation.
Analyze: Students will be analyzing both theirs and their peers stories and
whether or not they actually constituted a story with the images given to
them.
Apply: Students will be able to gather past experiences from other stories
they have heard and read. Students then will need to be able to relate them
to the story they will create.
Understand: Students must understand the assignment given to them and
understand each image given to them so that they can create a coherent
story with a beginning, middle, and an end.
Remember: Students will definitely need to remember the proper
guidelines on what makes a proper story. The presenter will also need to
remember the main motive behind their story format and why they chose to
create their story based off that, because if students are confused on their
story, the presenter will need to be able to defend what they have.

Lesson Sequence

1. Students will be presented with the pictures and familiarize

themselves with them.
2. Students will then break into groups and have a brainstorming session
with one another on things that may be going on in each picture.
3. Students will then go off on their own and write down their own ideas.
4. Once the ideas have been recorded, the teacher will give out a
template that will help explain how to organize their thoughts.
5. Once the student has written a rough draft for their story they will
then raise their hand and the teacher will come over and OK their story and
offer suggestions where they are needed.
6. Once a student is done they will need to get out practice math
worksheets until they are called up by the teacher.
7. The students will then be called one by one to come up to the
teachers desk and record their story, the teacher will be in charge of most
of the technology, the student will just need to be the one speaking.
8. Once all the stories are done the teacher will present the stories to the
rest of the class, the student will need to come up to the front of the class
and field any questions that may arise.

format from the beginning to end, and whether or not they created a
coherent story with the pictures given to them. Not only will the teacher be
evaluating all of this, their peers will also be grading them. This will show
the class and the teacher how well they displayed their recording to the
class. Not only is this a good formative assessment to see how they used
critical thinking to create a story out of completely useless objects, teachers
can decide what the students grade should be through that. Metacognition
will be applied because students will need to be able to defend why their
story is the way it is when questions arise from their peers. This is
definitely going to force the students to really think about the main motive
behind their story creating. This is an awesome way to help students really
think critically and on their feet because they will have to keep their
composure and create a coherent story based on a writing rubric. Not only
does this help with extra writing practice, you can also use this just as a fun
assignment because it could just be fun and no grades involved. Students
will not only be graded on their final product, they will also be graded on
how well they used the class time, how their story changed from the
beginning to when teachers gave out suggestions for revisions, and how
respectful students were when others were presenting.
