Summary (No less than 10 sentences for full credit)
This article is explaining the situation in Ukraine in the lives of civilians. There is only one
bank left in Donetsk Ukraine. Donetsk is located on the border of Russia. The city is
practically in ruins. There are left over tanks and bullets on the ground, sand bags left
over in the once-used trenches. There is barely any food to eat, people have been lining up
inside a building that once held a circus to receive a bag of groceries. The people can only
get those groceries once every two weeks. Dogs run around looking for food in dumpsters.
The ceasefire has done little to stop the fighting. Every day there are attacks and people
are afraid to sleep. Most people in the area are too poor to move to a different area, so
they are stuck there. One man stated that I dont care which flag flies here, I just want
peace.

Reaction (Must include evidence of point of view and/or bias and/or understanding of
article; no less than 6 sentences for full credit)
This article is sad to read, but really gives you an understanding of what is going on. The
people in Ukraine are getting to a point where they dont even care what happens, they
just want the fighting to stop. One man named Yuri Poznychenko lost his son in the
fighting. On July 28th a sniper from the Ukrainian National Guard shot Pozynychenkos son
dead, they thought that he was a separatist. They apologized and then had a soldier help
bury him. That is just insane. How can an army shoot innocent people and then give a simple
apology and think that it is okay? There is barely any food left, no jobs, people want to
move out but cant because there are no banks and no money. It is just a really sad
situation in the Ukraine.
