Learning Plan
Students understand how to operate all three computer applications. The computer
teacher has worked with the students to ensure understanding before this project began.
Day 1. Students will use their names to write an Acrostic poem about themselves. The
students will use a Word Document program to complete the poem. The poem needs to
describe the student. Ask questions like: What do you like to do? Do you have a family?
Do you have pets? What makes you, you?
Day 2. The students will use the laptop computers to take a picture of themselves. The
students will save the picture to Photoshop so they can edit the picture later. Have the
students open Photoshop and begin to edit their picture. The students can add any filters,
crop the picture, change the color, or add patterns. The only requirement is the students
must leave their face visible in the picture. Once the students have completed the pictures
in Photoshop the students will need to save the picture. The students need to access their
poem from the day before and add their picture to the poem. The student can also add
other pictures to their poems if they like. The pictures need to come from Clip Art and
need to represent something from the poem.
POEM ABOUT ME
Day 3. The students will pull up their poem from the day before. Then access ScreencastO-Matic to add the audio. The students will pull the screen outline over the poem and
read their poem. The students can use any type of voice they prefer. For example, if the
student says I am funny in their poem. The students can use a funny voice to say that part.
Allow the students to be creative with the audio for the poem. The students need to save
the Screencast when they are finished. Then provide the teacher with the link to access
the Screencast later.
Day 4. Each student will present their Screencast to the entire class. Once each student
has played their Screencast, have the students pair up and grade each others
Screencasts. Provide them with the student rubric. The teacher will use the teacher final
rubric to grade each students Screencast.
POEM ABOUT ME
Day 1:
Students will use a Word Document to design an Acrostic Poem about themselves. The
students can use any font or color type. The students can also change the background if
they want. Allow the students to be creative. Colors, themes, and fonts are up to each
student. The students have full creativity with this part of the project. Students can also
add Clip Art from the Word Document program as-long-as the pictures represent
something from the poem.
Day 2:
Students will use Photoshop to edit their self-portraits. The only requirement is the
student must be recognizable in the picture. The students can use any tool within
Photoshop they choose. The students have full creativity with this part of the project. The
students can edit the picture however they chose. The students will then add this picture
to their poems.
Day 3:
The students will use Screencast-O-matic to add audio to their poems. The students can
use different voices to add creativity to this part of the project. The students will read
their poems into the Screencast-O-matic program. Allow the students to be creative with
their voices. Encourage the students to use different voices to add some character to the
audio. Save the final project and provide the teacher with the link to access the project.
Day 4:
The students will access the Screencast-O-matic link and show the class their
presentation. The students should be respectful of other students presentations. After
all of the students have showed their presentations. Handout the student rubric and put
the students in teams of two. Have the students evaluate their presentations based on
the rubrics. Have the students hand in the rubrics. The teacher needs to use the final
rubric and grade each presentation.
