EIM504-Fall 2012

I would like to welcome you to EIM 504. Please note that this
is an online class and will not have face-to-face meetings,
however, we may have scheduled synchronous sessions via
Blackboard Collaborate. You will receive additional
directions for accessing the virtual classroom. All course
information will be communicated to you through your JSU
email and through the Livetext software. Please check these
often for assignments and course updates.

Classes begin Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Your course
assignments will be delivered through LiveText so the first
thing you must do is purchasea LiveText account. This
account will be used during your entire program of study at
JSU. You will need to purchase only one LiveText account
while at JSU. The account will be good for at least 3 years
and can be used in all courses. Information on purchasing
this account is included below.

Your first assignment is to purchase your LiveText account
and activate it. This should be done ASAP. You may purchase
your LiveText account online at http://c1.livetext.com or
you can purchase it at one of the campus bookstores. If you
choose to purchase your account online the cost will be $98.
The software can be purchased at the campus bookstores
but please note that it might be more expensive at the
bookstores and there is no difference in the software. If you
purchase online, you will activate your account during the
process. If you purchase at the bookstore, you will need to
go to the LiveText website and register your account using
the access code provided in the package you get at the

bookstore. Your LiveText account is an online subscription to

the software which means that you can access your account
from any computer that has Internet access. It is very
important that you enter your personal information correctly
when you register your account.

You must use the following information in order for your JSU
courses to show up in your LiveText account:

1. Enter your name as it appears in Banner

2. Enter your JSU email address

3. Enter your birthday

4. Enter your JSU 9 digit Student ID number (do not use
dashes).

5. Select Alabama as your state

6. Select Jacksonville State University as your institution



If you do not enter the above information correctly, you will
not see your courses. YourEIM504 course should show up on
your LiveText dashboard once you login. Your classes should
show in your LiveText account within 24 hours of registering
for the course (excluding weekends). You should login to
your LiveText account and check to make sure thatEIM504
is listed. Your first assignment in this course will be to follow
the directions in the "Getting Started" project. Feel free to
begin work on this assignment immediately. Follow the
directions in the assignment and submit your work to me for
evaluation when finished. You will hear more from me in a
