Special Accommodations for Larissa

Condition: Emotionally Disturbed

Lesson Plan: Topic 2, Location and Identification
ACCOMMODATIONS:
1. Physical/Environmental Accommodations: Ensure that Larissa has a seating
assignment (safe place/preferential) that sets into place a calm/non-threatening
place for her to work. I will monitor/regulate classroom noise very closely.
2. Assistive Technology/Instructional Delivery: Applications (computer/interactive
books on the Oceans Trenches) that can help her find the answers to the
assessment questions. I will also allow her to use videos/films.
3. Peer/Mentoring Tutoring: The case details that Larissa has some friends. I will
instruct one of Larissas friends to partner up with her to complete the
assessments.
4. Flexible Time/Organizational: If Larissa completes her assigned
questions/assessments correctly and timely, she can have a few minutes of
Larissa Time. She will also have a little timer to manage her time.
5. Assessment/Grading: I will allow Larissa to check her work by running
assignments by our teaching assistant/student mentor for accuracy.
STRATEGIES:
1.

Social Skill Instruction (SEE LESSON UNIT FLOW). I will incorporate

games, poster board interaction, and group think discussions for our given
activities. Larissa will be given her turn and her choice of participation
regarding input and impact.
2.
Escape Task: Larissa will be able to exit an activity IF she raises her
hand and can explain what she is upset/frustrated regarding her assignment.
