Description of Experience
This week I did not receive any patients to
treat. My first patient had cancelled on me.
Instead I had the opportunity to
communicate with classmates to resolve
underlying issues they had before treating
the second time. I was also able to learn a
lot from my instructor this week when
given demonstrations and different
scenarios on what & how we should be
treating this patient.
This week I was granted the opportunity of
having two patients. My mentor had also
come in to observe me. My first patient
was my patient who I have consistently
seen since the beginning. I had the
opportunity to perform 2 MMTs on her,
assess her forearm, and perform trigger
point release. I did get a little frustrated
when I was unable to release the trigger,
but my mentor gave me lots of useful
feedback. My second patient was a student
initial. She had come in for neck/shoulder
pain. As I was about to perform ROM
assessments on her until she just revealed
that she was in a car accident, I was
flustered and had to start my interview
over again as new information was
mentioned. I did ROM, postural, and a SOT
on her.
