SSCSD Educational Technology Standards

1. Digital Citizenship: Students understand human cultural and societal issues


related to technology and practice legal and ethical behavior.

Students will be able to do the following:

Educational Level:

1a. demonstrate safe, legal and responsible use of information technology through ethical behavior
(appropriate social networking, protecting individual privacy, refraining from cyber-bullying
and offensive language)
1b. exhibit a positive attitude toward using technology that supports collaboration, learning, and
productivity
1c. demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning
1d. exhibit leadership for digital citizenship
1e. demonstrate good faith effort to comply with current copyright law when using video, music,
images, and print

2. Technology Operations and Concepts: Students demonstrate a sound


understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.

Students will be able to do the following:

Educational Level:

2a. use SSCSD network resources by following proper log-on/log-off procedures in order to
access/save information
2b. use SSCSD licensed software appropriate to the task
2c. troubleshoot basic system and application problems
2d. apply current knowledge when learning new technologies

3. Creativity and Innovation: Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct


knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

Students will be able to do the following:

3a. apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas and create original works as a means of
personal or group expression
3b. explore models and simulations to explain complex systems and issues
3c. identify trends and forecast possibilities

environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to
support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.

Students will be able to do the following:

4b. communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media
and formats

evaluate and use information.

critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems,
and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.

Students will be able to do the following:

6b. plan activities that develop and extend learning through the use of appropriate technology
6c. investigate issues using a variety of web-based resources available to SSCSD students (district
databases and public access data)
6d. use multiple technologies to make informed decisions to solve a problem
