This article is also based off of an experiment. There was a group of kids that had music
in their class and a group who didnt. The experiment showed that the group with music had a
significant growth in their social, cognitive, and physical development. Statistically the group
without music had a not so significant growth. The article tells how music can have a great and
positive effect on the education of a child. The only downfall of this experiment was that the
music played was strictly Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In my experiment I will test the
childrens behavior, not educational benefit, and play a variety of music. Though the article is
different, it still relates to my topic of how music effects children in the classroom.

In this article, McGovern tells how the experiment conducted was to see how certain
methods effected the growth of the children. Some methods didnt work as well as others but
thats okay because the results were exactly what they needed to hear. Instead of using one style,
the different styles showed how the students could be helped in a fun and productive way. Some
things they tried were rhythm spelling, motivational music, and songs with movement about key
concepts. The children found the rhythm clapping, motivational music, and rhythm spelling to
be the more helpful of the variety. This relates to my topic because I want to use different kinds
of music to test the childrens reactions. My study wont focus so much on the learning portion
but more of the behavioral side of things.

This Article tests the effect of slow classical music on young children in the classroom.
There were two different tests, but they both were at the same time of day and the same
scheduled assignment. The first test was silence; the kids were more talkative and more children
asked to leave the classroom or go to the bathroom without the music. The second test with the
music seemed to calm the children. The noise level decreased, less hands were raised, and less
children left the room. This article relates to my topic because of the test with music in and out
of the classroom. Only one type of music was used, so that will be a difference between this
experiment and mine.
