and Korean war, and how they are
connected to the Cold war.

The student will identify the main causes for the Cold war
The student will describe McCarthyism, the Cuban missile crisis, the
space race and the HUAC
The student will explain the domino theory and how it is relevant to
the Korean/Vietnam War.
The student will analyze the effects the Vietnam War had on the
U.S.

Lesson Plan:
Introduction :

Process:
1. Students will fill out a quiz about what they remember about the cold
war from middle school.
2. Students will have a class discussion to review material they
remember.
3. Material will be covered using power points and textbooks.
4. Students will partner up and will split up chapter over Cold war then
share material with each other.
5. Students will do a gallery walk around the class room with important
events about important Cold war events and Vietnam and Korean war
events.
6. Students will compose a written paper over topics they will choose at
random.

Accommodations:
1. Alternative assignment for a student with special needs.
2. Student will be partnered up with bilingual student to help translate.
