What are the essential skills required?

Communication skills- Must be able to communicate clearly with people who are not in the
business of accounting such as customers, other employees, and business owner
Team player- Depending on the where you are employed; accountants may have to work in
groups.
Numerical skills- Understanding of calculating skills, budgeting, able to read spreadsheets and
databases
People skills- Accountants communicate with a variety of people on daily basics
Problem solving- Every job comes with its challenges
Business skills- To keep up with the current trend in the business world
Time managing skills- Must manage time wisely to be able to meet deadlines, month ends,
payroll and those sorts of things
Computer skills- Knowledge on accounting programs, because everything today is done on
programs

Are there expected to be many jobs in this area in the coming years?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 16 percent growth rate for accountants through 2020

As an entry level employee, an accounting student can usually expect to receive between
$35,000 and $45,000 a year

Is this enough to support your lifestyle?


Yes it is, right now we are currently living off my fiancs salary and he is able to pay all the bills
and everything on his salary. My salary would be extra and of course it

wouldnt be like that like that due to the fact that we need a new car soon so that would mean an extra
car payment, we would be able to afford more and wont need to be
living on such a tight budget anymore. We would be able to afford hockey for my son when that time
comes around and other things we would like to do.

Business Administration - Accounting Advanced diploma 3 year program and/or can also get a
university degree 4 years

Child and Youth worker

What essential skills does this job need?

Patience- Sometimes it takes a while for a child to start talking and opening up, you got to keep
trying and stay focused
Understanding- You cant judge the children or they wont want to talk to you.
Good listener- Once you get them talking you got to let them talk and listen to them

Are there expected to be many jobs in this area in the coming years?
Openings will come first from employment increase and from the need to replace community
and social service workers who will be retiring or entering jobs in other occupations. In fact, with
appropriate training, quite a large number of them will find positions in other occupations, for instance
as social workers. This occupation attracts many candidates, but the labour market demand is sufficient
to absorb them all

Yes it is, but I would like to make more because money plays a decent part in my job search i
have to be able to support my child and be able to afford sports and activities he may want to do
growing up. And I do not like the fact that many people move on from this job after a few years, money
does talk to them too.

What are some of the main duties of this job?

Managing and administering youth and community projects and resources

Assessing the needs of young people, and planning and delivering programmes related to areas
such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, gangs, violence, relationships and bullying
Regularly monitoring and reviewing the quality of the local youth work provision
Running arts-based activities, community/environmental projects, residential activities, outdoor
education and sporting activities
Befriending and supporting individuals in various settings, including outreach work
Mentoring, coaching and supporting individuals to facilitate personal.
Working in partnership with professionals from other organisations that support young people
such as social care, health, police, education, youth offending teams and local authorities
Attending regular training and development opportunities to maintain an up-to-date knowledge
of safeguarding, health and safety and local policy developments
Recruiting, training and managing staff, including volunteers
Undertaking administrative tasks, maintaining effective recording systems and responding to
queries
Working with parents and community groups to win support for improved provision and acting
as an advocate for young people's interests
