After Instruction
1) Informal Assessment - Finish KWLQ chart, observe role play, Worksheets of ways to show
respect in classroom, hallway, cafeteria, play ground, peers, and adults, good citizen anchor

2) Traditional/Formal Assessment - Multiple choice test, matching test, Jobs and Services
Writing Sheet (student writes about the service that each helper provides),
3) Authentic (Performance) Assessment - Role playing community helper jobs, skits of
community helper jobs for classmates to observe, conduct a transaction, utilizing sources of the
library for primary and secondary sources, videos, and biographies, model of a town, class job
bulletin board with new jobs every day, construct a map
4) Portfolio Brochures for our community - to be displayed in the hallway or on the wall in the classroom

Interactive Bulletin Board - where students write about and craft who they want to be when
they grow up. I would display them on a bulletin board or in the hallway.

Overall Evaluation of Lesson Unit-Student Survey - ask them questions such as what did you learn, did you learn what you
wanted to learn, do you have any questions about this unit, what jobs did you learn about,
what did you learn about where you live, etc.
-Multiple Choice Test
-Oral Group Presentation over our community and it's helpers: the jobs, the goods, the
producers and consumers, where we are on a map, what our past was like, etc. Include a lift a
flap report to hang in the hallway and help to guide presentation.
