UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


Students will know the reason for pearl harbor and what damage it did to the Unites States Navy along
with the affect it had on the rest of the war
LESSON OBJECTIVE:
Students will learn imports facts, date, and reason for pearl harbor taking place
Students will create and present to the class a presentation of at least 8 slides, 5 transitions, 3 pictures, 2
hyperlinks to information on Pearl Harbor and its effect on the United States navy and the rest of the
war. Each PowerPoint must have at least 2 quiz type questions from the material

MATERIALS:

Students will need access to a computer and have internet for research
Students will use Microsoft power point to create a presentation of what they have learned

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:


I will go through each of the main reasons for Pearl Harbor and the effects It had
Statistics of the attack and what it meant for the rest of the world
The previous lesson will be about why and how the US avoided joining the war
This lesson will lead me into how the war was fought in the pacific and into the end of the war
Creating different ways to share the information will help students see the importance of the information
PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:
Introduction: students will take a quiz before the lesson to see what they know. Questions will be
leaned toward things that will grab their attention
Procedures: students will go through a one hour class where a presentation over some of the
information will be covered and presented to them after they complete a handout where I find out what
they know before covering the information. The class will be assigned and given one week to create and
present to the class a presentation (PowerPoint) of 8 slides, 5 transitions, 3 pictures, 2 hyperlinks to
information on Pearl Harbor and its effect on the United States navy and the rest of the war. Each
PowerPoint must have at least 2 quiz type questions from the material

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:

There will be a quiz at the end of the lesson to see what the students learned what they presented to the class ( 12
facts) along with some other facts that are presented by other students to see if the students learned from each
other

MODIFICATIONS:
Students who master the quiz at the end of the lesion will be ready to advance on to the next chapter of
world war II
Students who dont meet the requirements will watch a video on WWII and retake the quiz
